Kremlin critic Navalny in clinic for alleged poisoning

Moscow (dts news agency) – The Russian Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny has been hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning. This was announced by his spokeswoman on Thursday morning via the short message service Twitter. Navalny is therefore in the intensive care unit. The opposition politician is said to have been unconscious when he was admitted.

Navalny had previously felt bad on a flight from Tomsk in Siberia to Moscow, the spokeswoman continued. Accordingly, the plane landed in Omsk, where Navalny was taken to a hospital. He is said to have only consumed tea before his symptoms of poisoning. According to the spokeswoman, this could have been poisoned. The authorities did not initially confirm the incident. Navalny is considered a leading opposition activist in Russia.
